Sustainability September

We are excited to announce the launch of Sustainability September — a month-long movement dedicated to inspiring action and advancing sustainability across veterinary medicine.
In partnership with Mars Veterinary Health, we’re taking all 30 days of September to share simple, effective ways every practice can reduce its carbon footprint and make a meaningful difference for our planet. From daily tips and podcasts to infographics and toolkits, every resource has been designed to be practical, free, and easy to share.

A Conversation

In this special Bridge Club conversation, we explored how veterinary medicine can take meaningful steps toward a more sustainable future. This conversation features inspiring insights from two sustainability champions:

Dr. Diccon Westworth, neurologist at VCA Animal Care Center of Sonoma, who also leads his clinic’s Green Team and shared why protecting our planet is an urgent, collective responsibility.

Margo Mosher, Global Director of Sustainability at Mars Veterinary Health, who traced her lifelong passion for the environment and explained why veterinary medicine must act now to reduce its environmental footprint.

From small daily changes in clinics to broader innovations across the profession, our discussion highlighted the vital role veterinary teams can play in addressing climate change, conserving resources, and shaping a healthier planet for animals and people alike.

Thank you to Mars Veterinary Health for their partnership in making this conversation possible and for leading the charge in sustainability across veterinary medicine.

SUSTAINABILITY SEPTEMBER PLEDGE

Small Shifts. Big Impact. One Person at a Time.

I pledge to be present, purposeful, and planet-minded this September.

I may not be perfect (who is?), but I commit to making more sustainable choices — even the small ones — because they matter.

  • I will pause before I toss — and recycle, reuse, or repurpose when I can.
  • I will power down when I leave a room.
  • I will sip from reusables and say “no thanks” to single-use.
  • I will shop with intention and ask, “Do I really need this?”
  • I will celebrate progress, not perfection.
  • I will talk about it — because awareness creates action.

Whether I’m wearing scrubs or sweats, commuting or composting, I know that each decision I make can lead to a cleaner, greener world for all creatures — great and small.

This month, I promise to be a part of the solution.
Because if not me… then who?
And if not now… then when?
